Durante a sua passagem pela França, Will.i.am concedeu uma entrevista à rádio NRJ e falou sobre o futuro do Black Eyed Peas, a sua colaboração com David Guetta e o seu próximo álbum solo.

Após os sucessos mundiais com o Black Eyed Peas, Will.i.am retornará com um novo álbum solo intitulado #willpower que deve ser lançado no dia 24 de setembro. O primeiro single, “This Is Love”, já é um sucesso e os próximos singles também prometem ser grandes sucessos.

Na entrevista, Will.i.am fala sobre como ele ama ir à França e afirma que da próxima vez que ele for para lá, ele vai estar sozinho, mas que o Black Eyed Peas ainda fará shows junto, comenta sobre o Hollywood Bowl (onde ele se apresentou com Apl.de.Ap, Taboo e Nicole Scherzinger) e tranquiliza os fãs do Black Eyed Peas anunciando oficialmente na NRJ que o grupo voltará aos estúdios em 2013.

“The next time I come to France to perform I’ll be by myself. The Black Eyed Peas, we still do shows. We had a show in Los Angeles 3 days ago for a benefit for the Philippines, but we will start recording in 2013.”

Ele também explica sobre ter colaborado com o seu amigo David Guetta, falando que a música que eles estão fazendo agora é pela internet, assim como fizeram com I Gotta Feeling. Will cita os artistas franceses que ele conhece, mas diz que Guetta é o único que ele considera como amigo.

“Yes, we are working on something right now for my album #willpower, so me and David Guetta, we collaborate over the internet. I Gotta Feeling was made from the internet and this new song that we’re working on is over the internet.”

“I know David Guetta, I know Bob Sinclar, he is good. I know a lot of French artists, but personally, as friends… just David Guetta.”

Will revela que foi inspirado pelo filme “Back To The Future” quando era criança, conta que quando está com os Peas pode compartilhar coisas com eles, como lembranças e coisas do tipo. Ele também confessa que não gosta de sair sozinho. Além disso, Will conta que tem viajado com os Peas há 13 anos e pretende continuar fazendo isso, embora ele consiga fazer mais coisas quando está sozinho, como por exemplo, música. Ele também revela que dorme pouco quando viaja, aproximadamente de 5 a 6 horas.

“Those kind of memories I like to have and share, like when the Peas are here. I remember a museum, now it’s like I really don’t remember it. ‘Cause when I travel by myself it’s… I am in a hotel by myself, making beats on my computer. I don’t really go out by myself, really.”

“I’ve been travelling with the Peas for 13 years, you know. It’s a long time. And we’re still gonna travel, but when I travel by myself I get to do more philanthropy. I get to have a, you know, my days… I have more things to do in a day, I get to make music, I do philanthropy , I peform still, I design… you know designing is something you could do a lot in 24h, you can really do a lot, you sleep for about 6, 5 to 6 hours.”

Will afirma que ele lutou para chegar onde está hoje e que ele ainda está lutando. Ele conta que é americano mas tem uma carreira maior na França, em Londres… e é um pouco estranho ter uma carreira maior fora do seu país de origem. Will ainda diz que ele ainda está lutando para conseguir o seu próprio lugar, fazendo isso por si mesmo.

“Yeah, you have to fight. I fought to be here. I am still fighting. You know, so. I am from America, but I have a bigger career in France. I’m from America and I have a bigger career in London. So I am still fighting to you know have a stable career in the country that I am from. So this is kinda weird that you have success outside of your home. And people understand your sensibility or respect, your respective outside of your home. So you’re still fighting, ’cause as much I have accomplished and the Peas. I still haven’t accomplished the things that I wanna do on my own.. so I am still fighting for my place.”
